Although I can't be positive that the image I found of her house is correct, all the characteristics match her description. The map shows all the roads and buildings that she talked about such as the, " .... grand limestone courthouse with a big clock tower.", McDowell Street, and Court Street. I was fascinated when I saw the maps of the places she was talking about. I felt that from that moment on I was more connected to the book and to Jeannette.

ReplyDeleteI’m sorry for the post above. She must not read a lot. I believe this is the correct house. It’s matches the vision i had through reading her book. If not so what. It’s the vision myself and others hold onto as we reflect about a little book that had huge insight. I now am retired and live in rural Appalachia along the Va part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I love to look at old houses sitting on sides of the mountains especially in West Va coal towns of yonder. Thank you for posting and i enjoyed these pictures.
